Karen Po is Back!

McDonald's is currently re-airing the "Karen" TVC in celebration to it's "30 Years of Magic".

Karen's Lolo fails to recognize her due to old age and calls her Gina while snacking in McDonald's. But he says Karen is his favorite apo as he slices a McDonald's hamburger into half which he says he's going to give to his favorite apo. This made Karen smile!

The Karen character was acted by a cousin, Karen de los Reyes (Glomy Rose de los Reyes in real life). After her rise to fame as a result of the popularity brought about the McDonald's TVC, she took a long rest. She resurfaced as a participant in Survivor Philippines Celebrity Edition which was won by Japanese-Brazilian model Akihiro Sato.

McDonald's launched its first store in Morayta St. in front of the Far Eastern University compound in 1981 in what used to be a food court. It was an instant hit.

I didn't really like the sequel to this TVC where it's already Gina's story. But it's not really that bad.
